In a nutshell, the Hummer HX is a vehicle which is classified as a concept hummer, or humvee, and was first introduced to the consumer in early 2008. It really captured the minds of the public, and probably became the most renown hummer, when it made its debut in Transformers 2: Rise of the Fallen.
The car was the car that our protagonist, you know that geeky kid Sam, was hiding behind during the excitement of the battle scene. Granted it's a big vehicle, but I doubt it is a safe bet it will protect you from alien robots and a hundred some odd missiles heading your way.
Just like the rest of the Hummer line, the Hummer HX is a General Motors innovation. Despite the name Hummer HX, this hummer is actually much smaller than previous models.
This Hummer is a sparse 81 inches, 6.75 feet, wide and its wheelbase is only 103 inches, 8.58 feet, which makes it seem cramped and tiny when compared to the other models of hummer out there. This hummer can only carry four passengers, and utilizes the bucket seat design. It can carry two in the front, and two in the back, which makes this the tiny hatchback of the hummers.
Under the hood, the driving force of the Hummer HX is a 3.6: V6 engine, which means it has six cylinders, there have also been hints that a 2.4L four cylinder option will be made available to those who don't have the money to spend on gas.
Rather interestingly, the HX is the first of its kind which is focusing on trying to be more economical, and environmentally friendly, which is something that one does not think fits with the whole image of what a hummer is. Although consumers will be happier if they aren't shelling out $400 a week in gasoline...
The Concept Behind the Hummer HX:
The Hummer HX has brought a unique twist to the whole concept of what a hummer is and should be. This model focuses more on looking cool, and being compact, than on the "Mine's bigger than yours" mentality of the other hummers in the series.
